2UE’s new boss, Bob Miller, has taken to sharing his thoughts with staff in a weekly newsletter called FYI, subtitled Bob Miller’s Diary: The Public Thoughts of a General Manager.
According to Sue Javes in the Sydney Morning Herald’s Guide, Miller’s advertising background is evident in his lyrical description of 2UE’s new 5am news program. "The smoothness of Steve Blanda’s voice plus the dulcet tones of Mike Carlton’s light-hearted delivery will give us a unique, powerful aural presence in Sydney," he wrote earlier this month. Without actually naming Alan Jones at 2GB, he goes on to say: "Our sound will be much, much smoother than the raucous, irritating tones of the other talk station at that hour of the morning. Women prefer to start the day with mellifluous tones, rather than hectoring, irritating arrogance."
Miller ends the newsletter by promising to keep everyone apprised of what’s going on without any management bulldust obscuring the facts".
