Smartphone use soars

Almost half of Australia’s adult population are already taking advantage of the wide availability of smartphones and their connectivity to the internet. The ACMA’s Smartphones and tablets: Take-up and use in Australia  report examines what is driving the take-up of smartphones and tablets by Australians and what activities they use the devices for. The report shows that at May 2012, over 8.67 million Australian adults owned a smartphone—up 104 per cent from the previous year and more than 4.37 million Australians were using a tablet.
