Senior media executives have told The Australian that Fairfax Chairman Roger Corbett is actively considering the future of Fairfax and he has been canvassing support for the abolition of media ownership laws standing in the way of corporate deal. All sides deny formal talks have taken place but executives contacted by Mr Corbett have been left with the impression the former Woolworths chief executive is open to doing a deal. Mr Corbett declined to comment.
