Radio has always been at the heart of Melbourne’s arts world, with terrestrial community stations including Triple R, PBS, 3CR, SYN and 3MBS helping to build the grassroots creative community the city is known for. But over the past few years there has been a change in the landscape, as less-mainstream, online-only, ultra-DIY stations have begun popping up in the underground – including Skylab Radio, Hope St Radio, Area 3000, Lossless and Pretend.
