Wagga Wagga Audio / Visual – a curated exhibition of local media history

If you are passing through Wagga Wagga in NSW anytime before the end of this year there is a free exhibition at the Museum of the Riverina celebrating the region’s audio, visual and print media history.

The retrospective has been curated by former 2WG radio producer John Riddell who now works at the museum. He told Region Riverina publication:

“We had a great outpouring from people who actually worked in the industry.

I wanted to capture a world where the names behind the paper, the voices on the radio and the faces on the TV were recognisable on the street.

“Wagga loves seeing itself on screen and hearing itself on the radio. This exhibition provides a snapshot tour of 150 years of the local media landscape.”

The exhibition takes you back to a time when media was completely local. You can hear the stories of those who worked in the industry and see the technology they were using.

Next Saturday June 21 between 11am and midday John is hosting a free talk and tour of the exhibition. taking people behind the scenes of the collection.

Entry to the exhibition is free. You can simply turn up to the Historic Council Chambers on the corner Baylis Street and Morrow Street, Wagga Wagga, Tuesdays to Saturdays between 10am to 4pm or Sunday from 10am to 2pm until December 14, 2025.
RSVP’s to John’s free talk and tour are recommended and can be made here.
