‘They really are looking for love’ – Sam Armytage joins Nova’s Chrissie Swan ahead of the launch of The Golden Bachelor

The new host of the Golden Bachelor Sam Armytage joined Nova’s The Chrissie Swan Show, with Chrissie and anchor Jack Charles (both pictured) talking romance rumours (including Sam’s), Bear, this year’s bachelor, and why this show will be unlike anything we’ve seen before.

Chrissie: Were you excited when all the headlines were about Pam Anderson and Liam Neeson finding love in their geriatric days?

Sam: Yes, I love it. I love a bit of Boomer love, because obviously this is what we’re all about at the moment. So yeah, I think they’re a really cute couple, and I actually was, it’s funny that you bring that up, because I thought they are so sweet together… Let’s use those two as inspiration for what’s coming with the Golden Bachelor very soon to Channel 9.

Chrissie: When? When can you tell us?!

Sam: It’s coming soon! I can’t tell you, but very soon. We’re getting very close to it now. We filmed earlier in the year. We’ve been in the edit suite, and now it’s nearly ready for you all to see. And it is amazing. And I just heard you talking before, Bear is actually Canadian originally, he’s lived in Australia for over 20 years, so he’s very much an Aussie, and his boys are all, he has three sons. They’re all Aussies. And he and his first wife, who passed away from cancer 14 years ago, moved out here, and he stayed. So he is wonderful. I cannot wait for you to meet him. He’s gorgeous and just, and very kind. He’s a really, he’s a good man. And I’m really looking forward to this.

Chrissie: Did you, I mean, you’re single and ready to mingle? Did you ever want to apply a little bit of staff discount on Bear, like, I’ll take that one thank you, ladies.

Sam: Well, you can’t host the show and then steal the Golden Bachelor. Hello. That wouldn’t be much fun would it?

Jack: Samantha Armytage, I saw headlines after the Logies, they were trying to put you two together!

Sam: Of course, they were! Hello, have you not met me? Every time I stand next to a man, they put me together! But no, look he was wonderful. He’s a friend, and I’m the host, and he’s the golden bach. And there are 20 wonderful ladies who were just so excited to meet him. I mean, it’s such a great show. I know all hosts say that about their show, but it really was, it was so fun to make. Bear is wonderful. And the ladies are really powerful… they’ve got these extraordinary stories. Because this is not like any show I’ve done before or seen before, because they’ve really, they’re not just coming into this for Instagram fame. They really are looking for love, all of them, and they all have these wonderful stories to tell. They’ve lived a life. So they’ve got, you know, plenty of miles on their tyres, so they know what it’s about. They know what they’re looking for. They know what they won’t put up with. Some of them, have had pretty horrible things happen in their lives. You know, they’re divorced or they’re widowed, and, of course, no one expects in their 50s and 60s, that’s where they’re going to be. So these women find themselves in these situations now, and they go, you know what? These boomers, they’re really powerful. I tell you what, they are, they’re cashed up. They’re independent. They’ve raised their kids. Some of them have got grandkids.

The cast vying for Bear’s love this year have been revealed including radio broadcaster Bianca Dye and Laura Junner, podcaster Abbie Chatfield‘s mum.

The Chrissie Swan Show can be heard from 2pm to 4pm on the Nova Network Nationally.
