I'd just love to let Ray's family know it has been a privelege to work for one of the best radio companies Australia has ever known - thank you Ray !
Rob your dad was one of the best!!
My first assciation with Ray was in the mid 70's. I'm sure he was born with radio in his blood. Ray was one of the first to recognise the value in building strong regional radio networks, and understood the vital role regional radio stations played for the country communities of Australia. Ray was a visionary and a leader. He will be sadly missed.
Ian Holland - MRN
As an 18 year old Ray Gamble picked my audition tape from a batch submitted by Bill Roberts of the Vincent School of Broadcasting and thus, in 1959, began an on-air/management career that was to last until retirement in 2005. The "old" 2RG Griffith was located on the first floor of the Area News building in Ulong Street and, on publication day when the presses were running, everything shook!
But it was a wonderful experience being taken under the wing of Ray Gamble and shown what regional commercial radio was all about. Vale Ray.
