I'm saddened to hear news of the passing of Vic Davies. He only had a few years on me so that tends to be somewhat of a wakeup call. Of the hundreds of radio performers I've had the pleasure of meeting over the years; Vic was one I didn't get to know, though I feel I know something of him - as a bloke - through mutual friends. I consider myself blessed to have heard the brilliance that he and Mal Lees brought to the Australian airwaves the guise of Club Veg. Personally, I loved the rawness of their Triple J days. As they moved around the dial I believe they set a high benchmark for original comedy and quick wit in an era when duos were not as common as they've become. Sincere condolences to Vic's family and friends.
You said it all Mac,
Love and thoughts to Jody, Harmony & Family.
The funeral is on Thursday 12th Nth Sydney.
Sad to see Vic go, he was a great talent, and I was extremely lucky to have produced some radio gold with him as the final ever Club Veg producer... My thoughts are with his family.
"All the best to Vic's family. I had the pleasure of listening to him during his final years on MMM with Club Veg and remember with great clarity the show he and Mal did following September 11. In particular: the reworded version of With Arms Wide Open they threw together. I think Creed are rubbish, but Vic made the song brilliant.
I then had the privilege of briefly working with him at Star 104.5. Felt great to be on the same station as a legend and a personal hero of the industry."
I never actually worked with Vic, but often ran into him in the corridors of MMM, and found him to be nothing short of an complete gentleman and a great bloke.
Club Veg will always remain one of the great institutions of Sydney radio.
Sincere best wishes to family and friends
