I have a suggestion for the former 'Heart' 103.2 for 2008...why not add an 's' and make it 'Hearts'103.2 It doesn't breach the trademark owned by MRR, and still represents what they are all about.
I'm surprised MRR hasn't in turn being whinged at by the makers of the ice cream called Heart...
Happy new year everyone!
Wayne Mac, a wonderful, perfectly scribed tribute to Jim Angel with your piece on his funeral. Why oh why didn't 2SM also lead their Midday bulletin with a fitting coverage ?
At least 2UE, 2GB & 2CH did the right & proper thing. Come to think about it, did 2SM feature Jim's passing on their website ? Certainly when I checked it at the time, nothing was posted.

Having worked with Brian Bennett at the former 5DN in the mid 90's, I feel at least partially qualified to comment on his early passing at the age of 60.
Brian, with his slightly British accent was a likeable guy with a quirky sense of humour and an interesting take on life. He was a curious, deep thinker who enjoyed broadcasting (in particular Talk Radio) and finding out 'what' people thought and 'why'. He was a natural for 5AA and conducted their overnight programme with enthusiasm, skill and empathy, for the audience of the wee small hours. Of recent months filling in for 'Big Bob' Francis at Night, Brian did an exceptional job, as the numbers reflected. As far as radio goes he was not a flamboyant high flyer, rather a guy who worked diligently at his craft and the audience loved him. His family's loss is Adelaide's loss and I feel proud to have been a friend and past colleague. May he rest in peace.

There were plenty of times when I got stressed but in the end, I just figured you're only as stressed as what you put on yourself. Sure you may not agree with some things but decisions are made for a reason and it's up to you to work around it.
You're judged on how you react to situations so if go along those lines in a positive manner and always believe you have the ability to make things better for yourself, then it's likely you'll earn respect and therefore have no need to stress. If you read the late Stan Zemanick's book, he pointed out stress is more or less a cop out for those who aren't doing their jobs properly. It is true, for instance I'm not exactly achieving as much as I'd wish for, but it's up to me to work hard and change that.
