2WS v 2GO cricket matches...the City boys playing "those Central Coast Bastards"!!!!!! luv and thoughts to the Henricks family.
From "one of those Central Coast Bastards"! Guy A.
Legend Hendo!!! Will miss hearing your brilliant voice, your inflections, your style and thank you for the guidance you gave young people coming up in the industry. Radio's loss is the big sky's gain.
RIP Hendo from one of those Central Coast bastards!!!!!
Guy Ashford
Greg, Thanks for all the good memories. You will always be remembered as one of the real "nice guys" of Australian radio. We will all miss you.
Geoff Field
Hendo, thanks for the great times we had,you are a great mate and will be sorely missed by the many people you helped throughtout your brillant career. Sue and Blake our thoughts and love. Graham Miles
I heard Greg on 2WS in my early to mid teens regularly with his sports reports and it's so sad he's gone. My best wishes to Sue and Blake during this difficult time.
The word NICE is not one we like to use to describe anything in radio. But Hendo, it's a word that's just too apt to ignore when associated with you. You were, and will always remain, one of the true nice guys of radio. Vale.
Hendo - You and I laughed many times about my first day on air at 2AD Armidale in 1975, and that disastrous interview with Jesse Winchester.
You were a great journo, (I reckon a better breakfast jock) and above all a great bloke. I'll miss you.
Hendo one of the true legends of Radio and a real inspiration to the many many young journos you helped. We'll all miss you.
Hendo, moving from VO's to the news, you told me to 'stop selling and start reading'. Thanks for the attention and advice. Your 'style guide' remains in prime position in my notes.
-Tim
Hendo, You were a legend of a journo but also a really top bloke. I remember days at the Glebe Coroners Court (you always arrived late and needed filling in on the relevant details so you could file!) and chasing each other all over town in our news cars - you in the WS mobile, me for UE, and the likes of Timmy Collitts, Flip Moffat, David Allender, Damo Ryan, Sean Flannery and Terry Galloway among others. They were good days and a lot of fun, despite the hard work. Wherever you are, I know everyone is having a good time - you'll be making sure of it. RIP old buddy. Miss Lizzie (Swanton)
Hendo was a great man, a friend to all he met, and above all was helpful to us all, young or old - a real asset to the Industry.
He'll be long remembered,
But we'll miss you Hendo
I never knew Greg Henricks......but I always admired just how good he was.....brilliant voice and great newsreader in general. In fact, I thought it was a real coup for Sea and Gold FM to secure his services years back, he added experience and quality to a group already rich in talent with both news and on air....people like him gave stations overall credibility. I was once at a station where we took the 2WS news feed, I thought he made us sound good. I also heard he was a very nice guy, always willing to help out younger talent.....and with an abundance of up and coming talent that macquarie often has, he'll no doubt be a very sad loss to the team at Sea and Gold, especially in news. I don't know his family either, but my heartfelt condolences go to them, as well as his colleagues and friends on the coast.
Jason McLean.
Bart,
Tell the Jesse Winchester yarn.
I had the pleasure of working with Hendo at 2WS. He was a real pro, and a lovely man. A complete class act! He will be missed. My condolences to his family and friends.
John
Hendo is the true gent of news...he will be sadly missed by all the techs and his great 4am phone calls....

I first met Greg when he was doing court side announcing for the West Sydney Razorbacks and I was a scoretable official. we shared a number of jokes regarding the on court antics of the players, coaches and referees, and anytime I saw Greg away from the game, particularly when he came to watch his son play at Sutherland he would always say hi. Greg also remembered me when I started working at C91.3. I always remember him with a smile - I suppose that is the way we would all like to be remembered.
He may have signed off from here, but I am sure he is doing breakfast news at the big radio station in the sky. Thanks for the fun times Hendo.
the radio industry lost a good man, his family lost someone special, i remember the good old days of 2ws, greg was very helpful to me as i was going through a divorce at the time, goodbye greg you were loved by many. yes me a manly supporter working at 7 hills, it was frowned upon at the time.... grant goldman
Hendo - From all of your friends at C91.3, and particularly from those of us that worked with you for many years and at many
stations - we'll miss you. Thanks for your support and guidence
and I'll miss our golf games on the Goldie ... hope you have better
luck with that putter up there! Marcus Paul.
I remember how Hendo used to always encourage me to pursue a radio news career when I graduated from radio school years ago. Sadly I never got to go down that path, but if I did I would have definitely wanted to work with him guiding my career. He was inspirational, encouraging and caring. Condolences to his loved ones, what a sad loss.
Dearest Hendo, you were such a joy to work with at both WS and C91.3. Always enthusiastic, always chasing the latest story with a dogged determinism and always ready for a laugh too. I think you looked best in the pale pink polo shirts, which you would alternate with those wild tropical designs. I hope the service today was a bright, colourful and totally un-fashionable celebration of your life! Fond memories and all my best to Sue, Blake and your family. Mardi Cole
