Nicki Minaj at war with US radio station

Nicki Minaj has waged a war on US radio station Hot 97 after one of their DJ’s insulted her at a concert she was due to headline.

Minaj was due to perform at the station’s annual Summer Jam concert in New York but was pulled out by Lil’ Wayne, the head of Minaj’s hip-hop crew Young Money, after Peter Rosenberg, a DJ for the radio station Hot 97, which sponsors Summer Jam, blasted Minaj’s “commercial” sensibilities, specifically labeling her song “Starships” as low-quality pop drivel.

Introducing the act Roseberg said: “I know there are some chicks here waiting to sing ‘Starships’ later – I’m not talking to y’all right now.” Adding: “I’m here to talk about real hip-hop.”

Minaj and her Young Money crew heard about this and immediately pulled the headliner out of her slot. Minaj later had a heated on air debate with Hot 97 DJ Funkmaster Flex about the reasons behind her decision and the insults she received from Roseberg.
