2XL is celebrating it’s 75th Birthday this year on August 31, and in the lead up to that date, the station will begin a countdown next week of the greatest 75 songs of all time.

Program Director Scott McLaren has told radioinfo: “We will be counting down the greatest 75 songs of all time, with one song each day, from next Monday June 11… we will also giveaway $75,000 but more will be revealed on that soon.”

The station is trying to get some of its ex-staff members to do an hour’s shift here or there to commemorate the anniversary, and have been in contact with many past announcers.

But a few former employees are a little hard to find and the 2XL is chasing Steve Addaton, who worked at 2XL from 1986 – 1989 and then ended up at Tote Radio in Tasmania.
