The Radio Days Europe ’24 conference schedule is packed from early morning til late at night for the conference days, but if you fly in early, we continue our series of articles highlighting some suggestions of how to spend an extra day in Munich, from well known radio industry locals.
Morning show (Die Bayern 3 Frühaufdreher) presenter Steffi outlines her favourite things for visitors and locals to do in the city.
Start the day with…
The Viktualienmarkt is a great spot to head for breakfast and coffee, particularly on a sunny day.
Sights, favourite places, insider tips…
After your market breakfast stroll through the city via the Glockenbachviertel, down the Isar to the zoo. You can also cycle through the Olympic Park after your stroll to the Glockenbachviertel.
For the best view head up to the Alter Peter, or the Bavaria on the Theresienwiese.
My personal highlight is a wonderful barbecue on the Isar at Flaucher.
My outdoor tip in or around Munich is to visit the mountains. Head to Garmisch as it doesn’t take too long and it’s not as “posh” as Tegernsee or head to the Schliersee and you may enjoy the snow. If you return in the summer enjoy summer tobogganing or ride a rubber dinghy on a trip from Bad Tölz.
Food and coffee in between…
For delicious food eat at Hoiz in Ottostrase
Try the coffee at Milchhäusl at the university / English garden
Round off the evening…
Visit the bar Frau im Mond at the German Museum and “AAHHH” in the Werksviertel
