TONY Abbott has cautioned the media against publishing “news that endangers the security of our country” amid claims tougher security laws could lead to a crackdown on journalists. Attorney-General George Brandis this morning insisted the changes, which enjoy bipartisan support, would not lead to the persecution of journalists who report on intelligence leaks, such as those by US National Security Agency defector Edward Snowden.
