APN director resigns

Former outdoor advertising executive Pierce Cody has resigned from the board of APN News & Media, sparking a row over corporate governance at the trans-Tasman newspaper, outdoor, radio and digital group, reports James Chessell in The AFR.

Cody issued a press release saying he was unhappy with governance issues. Sources close to APN have said there have been disagreements over the company’s digital strategy and negotiations over a joint venture with Fairfax Media.

“There is absolutely no basis to question the corporate governance of APN,” said an APN spokesman. “The real reason regarding Cody’s departure is that he did not get the role he sought in the expanded outdoor joint venture company.”
