The Australian reports that difficulties in the advertising market are driving another bout of selling pressure in media stocks and prompted a warning last night from struggling regional newspaper publisher, APN News & Media, that it would be announcing a writedown next month. APN had previously warned of an asset review of its mastheads and values at its New Zealand operations and yesterday confirmed there would be a charge to the books.
