Australian boss of Sony Music fired as company investigates workplace culture

Just two months ago, music supremo Denis Handlin was supposed to be celebrating his 50 year career in the Australian music industry with a star-studded concert, dinner and fundraiser for hundreds of celebrities and guests at Sydney’s International Convention Centre. But on Monday, his extraordinary tenure as chair and CEO of Sony Music Australia ended abruptly with a brief email announcing his departure – “effective immediately” – as the company investigates the culture at the recording industry behemoth.
