At times Gap Year is reminiscent of a radio show being broadcast, with the linking segments – shot before an audience in the studio – having that overly energetic feel of radio banter, with too-quick laughter and a desire to build up gimmicks and catchphrases for repeated use; they even play around with a sound-effects console.
