Hospital radio show putting smiles on dials fights to stay on air

Broadcasting from hospitals all around the world, it fills the airwaves and keeps sick children smiling.
 
In Brisbane, the Mater children’s hospital estimated in 1990 that when Radio Lollipop began its programs, craft, fun and games it saved the hospital $1 million in pain relief in 12 months. Today the figure is incalculable.
 
But as the coronavirus pandemic sweeps the world, Radio Lollipop volunteers cannot go into hospitals – with a few exceptions – and its public donations are shrinking.
