Prime Minister John Howard says much of the hype surrounding media acquisitions is misguided. The sale of a portion of Publishing and Broadcasting Limited decision to buy a stake in West Australian Newspapers were both conducted under the current laws – not his new cross-media ownership laws which were passed by both houses of parliament this week, reports News Limited.
