Ian Parry-Okeden, talk radio veteran, author, former host of 2UE’s The Forum, joined Michael McLaren last night on 2GB to reminisce about the early days of talkback radio. Talkback was illegal in Australia until 1967, mainly because of government concerns of what callers may say, but regardless stations like 2UW and 3AK were broadcasting forms of talkback from 1963. 2UE and 3DB were the first Australian stations to legally present talkback radio, beginning on 17th April 1967.
