Local radio station blown up in Afghanistan

A local radio station called Qalam (Pen) was blown up in the Kama district of eastern Nangarhar province on Monday. Writers and journalists independent union head in the east, Ustad Lal Pacha Azmoon, denounced the incident as another brazen attack on media outlets. Unidentified gunmen had planted explosives in several parts of the building on Sunday night. The building was destroyed along with computers, a studio and other equipment worth $ 250,000. Its programmes were focused on political, social, religious and cultural issues.
