Local Tumut radio the big winner in Visy grant handouts

FM 96.3 Sounds of the Mountains has received a massive boost in the form of a $100,000 Visy- Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal-Pratt Foundation Grant for a project to bolster its emergency broadcasting service.

The local radio project came about when the Dunns Road bushfires were running and Sounds of the Mountains were operating live in the studios around 20 out of the 24 hours a day required to keep locals updated.

Sounds of the Mountains broadcaster David Eisenhauer said the money will be used to purchase equipment to make the station even more resilient during emergencies.
