MEDIA bosses breathed a sigh of relief, adopting a conciliatory stance as they welcomed the government’s decision to withdraw its highly contentious media reform bills package. Labor tried to salvage four of the six media reforms bills yesterday, including a public interest advocate to oversee mergers and government regulation of the press, but failed to win unequivocal support from independent MPs.
