New York’s oldest station, WOR, bought by Clear Channel

WOR (710 AM), New York’s oldest radio station and one of its last remaining independents, will be purchased by radio goliath Clear Channel, reports the New York Daily News.

 The news jolted the local radio community, leading to a blizzard of speculation on whether the new owners might at some point bring their syndicated hosts like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity over from WABC.
