THE tragic prank call by Sydney radio station 2DAY FM that was held partly to blame for a British nurse taking her life last December has had only a small financial cost for owner Southern Cross Austereo, despite the outcry. The radio and regional TV group yesterday announced a 52 per cent drop in net profit for the six months to December 31, from $94 million a year earlier to $45.1m, but the advertiser backlash over the incident was blamed for $2.8m in lost profit.
