The radio transmitter at Cumnock in central west New South Wales once had a beautiful rose garden and while the perfumed blooms are gone, there is still plenty of greenery, including a citrus tree abundant in fruit.
It is a hot day and the flies are buzzing, but that has not dissuaded groups of interested local people turning up for tours of Broadcast Australia’s (BA) facility.
They were keen to partake in a rare opportunity to inspect the 80-year-old facility and hear how it broadcasts to a wide geographical audience.
