We constantly hear about the insatiable 24/7 news cycle and are endlessly assailed by social media. But in a rapidly evolving media landscape, some things don’t change – people can still be deeply moved by hearing others recount simple moments and significant turning-points in their ‘ordinary’ lives. Collectively, such stories can provide insight into our shared history and humanity and deepen our sense of community and connection. Online delivery systems from podcasting to streaming have seen a renaissance in radio documentaries and features. The resurgence in audio storytelling also derives from the ease and economy of digital audio recording and production and the use of social media to promote and disseminate audio stories.
