It’s here; the rumored in-car listening device from Spotify. It’s playfully called Car Thing. “Let your phone do phone stuff,” Spotify announces. “Car Thing has one job and does it awesomely.”
For Spotify Premium subscribers, Car Thing can replace current solutions for listening to Spotify while driving: in-car phone, or built-in Android Auto/CarPlay.
Notably, Spotify is giving away the $80 device initially, allowing Premium users to get on a waiting list. Those accepted will pay only a $6.99 shipping and handling fee. (Which seems oddly parsimonious.)
