The Australian’s Amanda Meade in ‘the Diary’ reports: "Even if you are not a fan of journalist, Mike Carlton, who writes a column in The Sydney Morning Herald and has a breakfast show on Sydney talk station 2UE, you would have to agree he has an excellent broadcasting voice. This fact had temporarily escaped program director Sandy Aloisi when she approached Carlton and asked if he was interested in elocution lessons. Fellow presenter, Steve Price, had taken some and management was offering them to everyone. But Carlton was so insulted he exploded, saying it was ‘the biggest f…ing insult he had suffered in 30 years of broadcasting’. ‘It was like being offered typing lessons,’ he told Diary."
