About the Role

Have you an eye for detail, a clear communicator, and the ability to work in a time sensitive, pressure environment? Based in Southbank, Melbourne, the VIC/TAS Radio Master Control Room (MCR) team is seeking an Operator to perform the vital role in monitoring, and supporting our content teams within the TV & Radio MCRs.

Reporting to the MCR Coordinator, you will work independently to support the ABC broadcast transmission & production services in VIC and TAS. In this busy role, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Operating & monitoring local/state transmission, production & related equipment.
  • Recognising & addressing conflicting scheduling instructions.
  • Maintaining and developing standard operating procedures
  • Providing first line maintenance of contribution & transmission path e.g. program restoration
  • Locating and logging faults and providing diagnostic support to Technology Support staff to resolve faults.

About You

Along with the ability to work well independently, you share a passion with your team for exceeding expectations on delivery. Enthusiastic about keeping abreast of industry change and developments, you have an eye for detail; you’re an adept problem solver and have a natural talent to think on your feet, whilst displaying calm and confident front in times of uncertainly.  You will also have:

  • Operational expertise and experience in MCR &/or Broadcast operations
  • In-depth working knowledge of technologies and systems currently utilised at the ABC for program switching, scheduling, and contribution & distribution of audio/video content
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills and good work acumen
  • Flexibility in working with teams and management across various locations.
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 rotating roster environment
