One of the best roles in the country, our newsroom has moulded some of the country’s most respected journalists and we’re now ready to take on the next media superstar or welcome home an experienced journo to enjoy the quality lifestyle offered here in Geelong.
Geelong Broadcasters connects Greater Geelong and Beyond; a local, independent media business passionate about delivering the region’s best news and having loads of fun along the way. With a strong focus on hyper-localism, our team identifies, researches and delivers hot and breaking local stories as well as the national and global headlines that Geelong, the Surf Coast and Bellarine need to know.
If you are our person, you will have:
- Fantastic written, oral and editorial skills and demonstrated experience in writing well-rounded radio bulletins.
- An understanding of current events, a keen eye for a good story and how to get up-to-the-minute, fast-breaking news to our listeners.
- A desire to work in a fun fast-paced, demanding environment and deliver quality news content for radio and online platforms, to tight deadlines (bulletins delivered on-air half hourly or on the hour and online).
- Accurate attention to detail and an understanding of law, ethics and industry regulation as they affect journalists.
- An understanding of online news, social media and its importance in the media landscape
- Technical knowledge and proficiency in skills using a range of audio/visual/copy production equipment (e.g. Newsboss, WordPress).
- Relevant Journalism qualifications.
- Enthusiasm for early morning shifts and the occasional weekend, working in a tight team and having a good laugh.
