The Department

SBS Radio, known internally as Audio and Language Content (ALC), is the heartbeat of SBS. We deliver SBS Charter-focused and community relevant news, information and entertainment on podcast, radio, web, via digital television and on social media.

Servicing over 60 languages, SBS Radio services are dedicated to the over five and a half million Australians who speak a language other than English at home, as well as NITV Radio which celebrates the unique storytelling of First Nations Peoples.

The Role

The purpose of this role is to help shape and manage ALC’s technology strategy and lead our content resources team.

Reporting into the Head of Planning and Delivery, this role will see you be a key interface to the Technology division to manage ALC’s technology needs, offering advice and guidance, project management and leading the ALC Resources team.

  • Lead the planning and implementation of key Technology infrastructure projects.
  • Maintain a technology roadmap for ALC to improve broadcast and content production technology.
  • Interface with Technology on incident management. Provide expert customer service throughout the process of tracking issues and troubleshooting solutions.
  • Lead the ALC resources team and drive best practice music and image sourcing and asset management.

It is a requirement of this role that incumbents are fully-vaccinated with an approved COVID-19 vaccination in line with the ATAGI guidelines which include booster shots. We do however have a medical exemption process and we would be happy to discuss your application should this be applicable to you.

About you…

  • A high level of knowledge in audio production, playout and scheduling systems and associated workflows, including radio broadcast and podcast technologies and industry trends.
  • Experience in a technical or support related role within the media industry highly desirable.
  • A track record of delivering technology related projects and providing expert customer assistance to team members.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership including coaching and mentoring team members.
  • A confident presenter who can communicate and tailor complex ideas in a meaningful and beneficial way to a range of diverse stakeholders.
