The UAP and Clive Palmer are the big spenders : AirCheck Survey

With the approach of Election Day on Saturday, AirCheck Australia has tallied which parties and politicians have placed the most spots on radio, TV and Pay TV.

Clive Palmer’s United Australia Party was the most advertised party during the last five weeks running a massive 11,428 spots, equating to a 35.40% share of all political advertising and with spots aired across 41 radio stations and TV channels, Sydney talk station 2GB aired the most spots for the party.

Geelong’s ROCK and BayFM has launched a new-look station branding. 

Created by local Geelong based design firm Ken Lawson Design, both brands have been carefully developed to not only capture each station’s individual attributes, but to also sit comfortably together under the Geelong Broadcasters (and broader Grant Broadcasters) banner. 

The previous K-ROCK logo has been around since the station first launched in 1990 and was synonymous with its edgy rock-based format. 

Former Geelong radio announcer killed in US

Former 3GL and 3UZ announcer Monique Denahy has died in the US.

Initial reports suggest that she was killed by her husband in a murder suicide after telling him she was leaving him and treturning to Australia with their children.

Bay FM Geelong reports:

It's believed Monique Denahy, 49, was killed by her 55-year-old partner, Daniel Milner, before he took his own life at the couple's rented home in a gated Florida community.

Community station wins global award

Bay FM 99.9, a community radio station based in Byron Bay, has been awarded a top honour in the 2015 New York International Radio Awards.
Their 3 part series ‘Memories of Sarajevo’ – has won the Bronze trophy in the category:
Information/ Documentary / Social Issues.
The entry was up against  over 30 countries including ABC and SBS in Australia.

Bay FM feeds Flappy Bird addiction

Fed up with missing Flappy Birds, the game so addictive its creator removed the game from iTunes to assuage his guilt, Bay FM has brought out its own iteration of the fame Flappy Hayden.
Account Manager Patrick Blampied surprised breakfast host Hayden Miller with something to fill the void felt by so many, but with a small difference – Hayden is now the protagonist of the game, not a bird.

Bay FM & K Rock drive Jobs4Geelong

It's been a tough few weeks for Geelong with the news that the city is likely going to lose thousands of local jobs.

So Geelong’s biggest media organisations have come together to run a campaign to reinforce that the city is not on the ropes, but is a vibrant, positive centre with a strong economy that’s going through a time of transition.

Grant Broadcaster’s radio stations Bay FM and K Rock, along with the Geelong Advertiser newspaper are putting their considerable people reaching power to good use with the "Jobs4Geelong” campaign.
