The finalists for the 65th Walkley's have been announced

The Walkley Foundation has announced the finalists for the 65th annual Walkley Awards for Excellence in Journalism.
The Walkley Awards are the pre-eminent national journalism awards presented annually in Australia. They recognise and reward the best in the craft and set the industry standard for excellence.

2019 NRMA Kennedy Awards Finalists have been announced

The Kennedy Awards awards are organised by the Kennedy Foundation, a registered charity for news media professionals facing hardship and promotes strong camaraderie among news media professionals.
Les Kennedy, who passed away from cancer in August 2011, is revered “…as a champion  of “shoe leather” journalism, the antithesis of a phone jockey as he established an enviable network built on the trust that can only be established with face-to-face contact.”

According to Indonesian human rights lawyer Professor Jimly Asshiddiqie, one of a number of factors that hampered the Australian Government’s pleas for clemency for convicted drug runners, Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, was a poll conducted for triple j by Roy Morgan Research. 

The poll, asked triple j's Hack program listeners: "In your opinion if an Australian is convicted of drug trafficking in another country and sentenced to death, should the penalty be carried out?"

Airing for an hour on Tuesday 28th July, it will delve into young Australians’ relationships with drugs, asking: Who takes what and why? What's their real impact? And what should we do about them?
