ABC2 and triple j’s Hack are teaming up to present Australians on Drugs - a brutally honest live studio conversation hosted by Hack’s Tom Tilley about Australia's reputation as one of the world's biggest consumers per capita of illicit drugs.

Airing for an hour on Tuesday 28th July, it will delve into young Australians’ relationships with drugs, asking: Who takes what and why? What's their real impact? And what should we do about them?

triple j Unearthed High launches for 2015

triple j’s Unearthed High competition, a search for Australia’s best high school music act has commenced again in 2015.
 
The winning act will be flown to triple j’s studio to have their song professionally recorded, remixed or mastered by triple j’s Music Producers, which will then be played on triple j and triple j Unearthed. They’ll also get professional music advice from a top Australian act and their manager and a concert hosted at their school by triple j.
 

Mix FM the big winner in first survey for ten years

Results from the first all-of-industry radio ratings survey on the Sunshine Coast for ten years are in. 

The winner is Mix FM 92.7 with a 19.2% share all people 10+, and 20% share in breakfast.

Sea FM 91.9 followed with a 15.2% share all people 10+, and a 14.4% in breakfast.

Triple J was third with a 10.9% share all people 10+, and a 10.3% breakfast share.

Today marks a year since Double J emerged as triple j’s older sister, launching a whole new space to hear and read in-depth music features and docos, discover new music and relive the music that sound tracked your life. 

In just 12 months the station has garnered 524,000 weekly listeners, across mobile, online, digital radio and on digital TV.

Myf Warhurst, who leads the station with her daily music show, Lunch with Myf  looks back on Double J’s first year, saying

This Thursday, the triple j breakfast team don their leotards, legwarmers and sweat vests for Matt and Alexercise, a morning dedicated entirely to fitness.
 
The show will be packed full of high intensity songs, in-studio fitness challenges and special guests.

Triple J hangs out 40 years of washing for all to see

A washing line hung with 40 years worth of triple j promotional T Shirts is the centrepiece of a public display celebrating the national youth network in the foyer of ABC Ultimo.

The display of memorabilia is part of this year's celebration of four decades for the station that began in Sydney as Double J and has now expanded across Australia.

In its 40th year, triple j has been nominated for Best Radio Station in the International Music Industry Awards

The awards are in their second year and “recognise the vision, inspiration and ingenuity of executives and companies from the A&R, publishing, management, live, radio, music supervision, digital and brand arenas”

Interestingly, half of the nominees are public broadcasters, with triple j up against BBC Radio 1, Holland’s 3FM and US station SiriusXM.

Beat the Drum hits the Domain

triple j’s Beat the Drum festival, which celebrates the 40th year of the station, takes place today in the Domain, Sydney.

Tickets are sold out the the event which features big names in Australian music like Hilltop Hoods, You Am I, The Preatures, Vance Joy and The Presets. 

Each set will be broadcast live onto triple j and will feature a multitude of other special guests and triple j presenters.

The broadcast begins at 3pm, with the first set starting at 4:40. Set times are below:
