Chris Winter, one of the founding announcers at the original Double Jay and a driving force, especially in the early days, of triple j, has passed away.

"He had been very ill for the past 6 months, heart failure and I think complications from his life long condition as a type one diabetic," said Peter Wall today. To quote Marius Webb: "I think we all agree he deserves the title “legendary.”

Double J turns five years old on Tuesday 30 April and is celebrating half a decade of incredible moments, memories and music.
 
The digital station was launched in 2014 with a live broadcast from Melbourne’s Kelvin Club, hosted by Myf Warhurst, and aimed at the over 30s.
 
Across the day, Double J presenters Zan Rowe, Karen Leng and Tim Shiel will each be reflecting on their favourite stories, artists and songs from the past five years.

triple j’s recent What’s Up In Your World Survey canvassed the thoughts of 14,175 young Australian voters between the ages of 18-29 years and, more than ever, the findings are fascinating in the lead up to the Federal Election.

The AEC are also predicting that young voters could have a big impact on this election, after a whopping 132,000 first time voters registered to vote in the 2017 same sex marriage plebiscite.

Canberra Survey and Hit 104.7 is in the prime position

The first 2019 GFK survey for Canberra has been released and shows both Hit 104.7 (17.8%) and Mix 106.3 (17.0%) moving into first and second place in front of former front runner ABC Canberra (down 3.2 to 12.1%)

The ABC's other flagship in the nations capital, 2RN suffered a loss of 4.1 to be at 8.1% and left it trailing triple j (up 1.7 to 10.4%)

2CA (4.6%) also shed some audience to fall behind 2CC (4.8%).
