Last night co-host of the Hot Breakfast on Triple M Melbourne, Eddie McGuire ventured into the Nova studios to appear as a guest, on Kate, Tim & Joel’s drive show and take on the highly competitive Kate Ritchie in a game of Quick Draw.
 
Having announced his retirement from breakfast radio they discussed the topic on everyone’s lips, who is going to replace him on Triple M breakfast, and Kate Ritchie and Eddie went head to head in Quick Draw.

‘Leaked’ information and deleted Twitter posts are suggesting that Marty Sheargold will get the gig in Melbourne, and now there is talk that Hughesy & Ed are going to move into breakfast in the Harbour side city.

Triple M Melbourne’s The Hot Breakfast, hosted by Eddie McGuire and Luke Darcy, will finish up on Friday 27 November after 11 years on air.  
 
Launched in 2009, the breakfast show shaped a new era in FM breakfast radio with a clever, almost talkback approach alongside Triple M’s unmistakable sound of sport, rock music and comedy.
 

Triple M Melbourne is 40

Triple M Melbourne marked its 40th anniversary just last week, having gone to air at one past midnight on 11th July 1980 as EON FM.
 
Recording entrepreneurs Bill Armstrong, Glenn Wheatley and Bill Conn had successfully bid on one of the two Melbourne FM licences, and beat Fox FM to air by two weeks.
 
Peter Grace was the first announcer on-air at EON, and the first song was from the Eagles, New Kid in Town.

Wil Anderson has left the Hot Breakfast, making the announcement on Triple M Melbourne this morning.
 
Will joined Eddie McGuire and Luke Darcy in late 2017, replacing Mick Malloy, answering a call while he was performing stand-up in LA.
 
He says the decision to leave will allow him to spend time doing his comedy shows, podcast and TV show on the ABC
