Forecast for this morning’s Survey 6: Sunny with a chance of showers

BYO brolly this morning from 9:30

It’s been hard to define a trend for the majority of stations so far this year. You can count on only a handful of stations to consistently hold down any given spot.

Note: Tables show rankings from GfK Survey 5.

In Sydney and Melbourne, 2GB and 3AW will likely continue to rein but after that, it’s anyone’s guess.

In Sydney, the next five stations after GB are all in play. WSFM came in 2ndlast time and KIIS106.5 was 6thafter what many considered to be a rogue survey for the usually reliable Kyle and Jackie O. But in Survey 6 tables could be turned or smooth95.3 could come sailing through the middle.

In Melbourne, smooth91.5 leads the FM pack, for now, with FOX and GOLD breathing down its neck. But whether GOLD104.3 can stay with leaders or power ahead will depend a lot on whether the Christian O’Connell  experiment is paying off.

Further down the ladder, the same applies to Jase & PJ on KIIS101.1 with the station hanging on to 7thspot, just ahead of RN.

Brisbane, wow what a town! Just when we thought it was a two horse race with Nova and 97.3FM jostling for the lead, HIT105 comes barging through to greet the judge while Triple M is equal 2ndin the market. Could it get any closer with just 0.4 separating the top four stations? We’ll find out tomorrow.

In Adelaide MIX102.3 is a safe bet (each way) to retain the top spot. But FIVEaa, the only metro talk station not owned by MacRadio, has slowly but surely clawed it’s way into 2ndplace followed by Nova, Triple M and HIT107 all in the nines and all in a position to leapfrog their rival

Then, there’s Perth. MIX94.5’s used to be the banker here till Nova raided the safe and stole its crown. MIX wants it back badly and might just get it tomorrow.

Elsewhere, eyes will be on the national Drive shows where the HIT network came close to toppling Kate, Tim and Marty on Nova a couple of surveys ago but the trio kicked away again in Survey 5.

We’ll also see whether the ABC Local Network can turn around the long slump they’ve been in and whether Talking Sport Radio have found a few more people to talk to.
