2007 PD Course residential weekend a success

The 2007 AFTRS Program Directors residential weekend was held in Sydney this weekend, with speakers including Macquarie Regional Radioworks CEO Rhys Holleran, Southern Cross Broadcasting’s Bill Barrington, ARN’s John Williams, DMG’s Dan Bradley and Dean Buchanan, Austereo’s Jamie Angel, Jamie Chaux and Patrick Joyce, ACE Radio’s Stephen Everett, and many others.

The PD residential is an annual event which is part of the year-long AFTRS distance education course, a world leading radio management development course for the commercial radio industry.

Advice given to PDs included: protect the brand of your radio station, work closely with the sales department, and understand the bottom line of the business.

AFTRS Head of Radio Steve Ahern says: “The course has now been going for over a decade and many current program directors around the country are past graduates. We are very proud to work closely with Commercial Radio Australia to help make the Australian commercial radio industry one of the best in the world.”

Course participant Rick Shipp told radioinfo: “There’s so many new ideas, I have really enjoyed it. I particularly liked Dan Bradley’s brand development exercise.”

Applications for AFTRS courses will open in August for next year.
