2GB and Starlight partner for major Christmas Radiothon this Friday

Sydney’s 2GB has partnered with the Starlight Children’s Foundation to host a special fundraising radiothon this Friday, November 21.

The 2GB Starlight Radiothon aims to raise $100,000 to help Starlight deliver the gift of joy, laughter and hope to seriously ill children and their families during the festive season.

From 5:30 am to 6:00 pm AEDT, 2GB will dedicate its entire broadcast day to highlighting Starlight’s extraordinary work.

Listeners will hear from Ben Fordham (Breakfast), Mark Levy (Mornings), Michael McLaren (Afternoons) and Clinton Maynard (Sydney Now), as they sharing inspiring stories with special guests and ambassadors including sporting legends Kieren Perkins, Mark Geyer and Sam Thaiday.

Starlight Children’s Foundation CEO Louise Baxter said:

“Thank you to 2GB and your loyal listeners for helping brighten the lives of seriously ill children. When a child is diagnosed with a serious illness, their world is turned upside down. They’re separated from all which is familiar – family, friends, and the comfort of home, when everyone is together enjoying the festive season. That’s where Starlight steps in.”

“Through Captain Starlight and Wishgranting, Starlight helps children and families create moments of joy, laughter, and hope. We give back the magic of childhood and create memories that last a lifetime. This is especially important at Christmas.”

Nine Radio Managing Director and Starlight NSW State Advisory Board Member Tom Malone added:

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Starlight to help spread joy, fun and laughter to sick kids. The work of Starlight is incredibly important as happier patients are more resilient and often lead to better health outcomes – not to mention, everyone loves a visit from Captain Starlight!”
