2GB Loses League Ads over Hadley Criticism

Sydney’s Parramatta Leagues Club has withdrawn advertising from 2GB because Ray Hadley criticised Eels’ coach, Brian Smith.

Parramatta chief, Denis Fitzgerald, says the ads lost impact and integrity when Hadley did ‘live’ reads promoting the club and then bagging it on the weekend.

However, Hadley has told Adam Hawse in The Sunday Telegraph that he will continue to speak his mind on all subjects: “When you buy radio advertising, you don’t buy editorial comment, and that’s a very important part of radio.

“So when (Fitzgerald) buys ads on behalf of Parramatta Leagues, he doesn’t buy my compliance with him employing his coach.”

Hadley’s power and influence are on the rise – not only has he assumed #1 morning ratings in Sydney, but his weekend rugby league calls also remain in top position.

And, Hadley managed to break Friday’s story of Andrew Johns’ decision to stay with league, even though he was on holidays!
