2GB Tech Talker heads to print

Former host of the Chip for Brains segment on 2GB David Hague is to set up his own publication Australasian Camcorder.

Hague was Managing Editor of VideoCamera magazine, owned by Channel 7 Sunrise and ABC Radio’s Gadget Guy, Peter Blasina.

With the demise of that magazine, Hague is resurrecting the format in Australasian Camcorder.

He has told radioinfo:“Video is now a mainstream media discipline and not just for television or home movies anymore. As well as YouTube, radio stations have had video competitions and even newspapers employ videographers on their staff for instant updates of websites.”

Hague believes that video will become more of a force in radio as well:“Radio stations are always trying to differentiate themselves from the next guy, and if this means putting footage of events, competitions or whatever on websites, or inviting listeners to submit video, or even their news services taking advantage of video, then it will happen. It is not as if it is an expensive thing to do these days. A camcorder can cost less than a digital sound recorder!”

The first edition of the new magazine is slated for late February.
