2GB’s newsroom has told AMT that their internet site has just been upgraded and now has an audio news on demand service running.
“We’re getting near to a thousand connections to the service a day” …even without any heavy on-air publicity. “About 60% of the connections are Sydney based, another 20% are from interstate, the remaining 20 % are international (ASIA, the US, and UK in that order).
A number of our interstate network affiliates are using the news service to download audio from the feeds for use in their own bulletins. “They say the technical quality is better than what they get over a standard 3k newsline !”
The station also streams live programme as well and is getting about 10 international openline callers a day – mostly travelling Australians who’ve tuned in via the internet.
