2NM’s Stolzy rolls a stone for the Rolling Stones

2NM’s Breakfast host Glenn Stolzy Stolzenheim  was so excited about The Rolling Stones announcing that they would be adding the Hunter Valley to their On Fire Australian Tour he desperately wanted to give tickets away to listeners before they went on sale last Friday.

The call came from 2NM client, Darryl from the Muswellbrook RSL, offering to chip in $300 if Stolzy rolled a stone through the Hunter Valley all day.

So, on Thursday morning Stolzy dressed up like the fifth member of The Rolling Stones (that’s Stolzy in the headband!) armed with a skateboard, and a stone, hit the streets rolling the stone in Muswellbrook and ending up in Scone some 25 kms away. The Hunter Valley responded and the money started to come in.

After a full day of rolling a stone and catching up with local businesses and listeners along the way Stolzy went from having enough money to buy General Admission tickets to having enough to buy two Reserve Premium tickets for the show.  The total raised was over $1400.

Stolzy was stunned at the response, “People were coming from everywhere, local shop owners, listeners, it was amazing. It was one of the most enjoyable days I have had in radio and the people of the Upper Hunter have really made me feel like this is home.”

Now 2NM listeners will be so close to the stage they will be able to see the sweat on Mick Jagger’s face as he does the goose step to Start Me Up.

2NM PD Billy McFerrin says, “This is a feel good story for the Hunter Valley. Our breakfast show recently raised $30,000 to help struggling farmers with Buy a Bale and now the local community got together again and have raised enough money to give two lucky Rolling Stones fans the chance to see them at Hope Estate”
