Australian performer, singer and entrepreneur Col Joye who died this week was a great friend and supporter of community radio station 2RRR, being a local resident of the Ryde-Hunters Hill area of Sydney where 2RRR is situated.
Col was a frequent and very welcome guest to the station’s studios and was always willing to chat on air in his good-humoured and friendly manner. He will be greatly missed.
Several presenters will include tributes to Col Joye in their programs during this coming week, including:
Michael Parsons, as a close friend of Col over 50 years, will remember Col in a very special way on his program Wild in the Country this Saturday morning, August 9, from 8:00 to 10:00am, with an encore on Monday afternoon August 11 from 2:00 to 4:00pm.
Rob Howes, in his program Pop Rock with Robbie! on Monday evening August 11 from 5:00 to 7:00pm, and repeated early on Wednesday morning August 13 from 5:00 to 7:00am. Rob will replay his one-hour interview with Col from 2021 as well as songs by him, followed by an hour of the early days of Australian rock’n’roll; and
Brian Crabbe, in the second hour of There Goes That Song Again on Wednesday morning August 13 from 10:00am to 12:00noon, with an encore on Friday afternoon August 15 from 2:00 to 4:00pm, will air the first of his series of four one-hour programs recorded in 2019 in which he chatted to Col, tracing his whole career.
