Radio 2RPH has launched Passing Thoughts, a pioneering podcast and radio series exploring the often-uncharted territory of life’s final chapter, fostering a vital “death literacy” through honest, engaging, and even humorous conversations. Hosted by Rob Kaldor, Passing Thoughts invites listeners to embrace a deeper understanding of these universal experiences.
Passing Thoughts dives into a diverse range of crucial topics, including the grief journey, ethical complexities around voluntary assisted dying, palliative care, wills, and stories of near-death experiences.
The show is meticulously crafted to dissolve taboos and cultivate open dialogue, making these sensitive subjects approachable and understandable. Episode one features the doyen of Palliative Care in Australia, Teresa Plane AM (pictured above) who has packed a fair amount into her 92 years. Future episodes feature discussions with notable figures like journalist Emma Rossi and the inspiring Reverend Bill Crews.
Host Rob Kaldor believes in connecting people through even the most challenging themes:
“While it’s undoubtedly a challenging topic, it’s also something we all face. So why not have real, open, and even surprisingly lighthearted chats about our final chapter? You’ll be genuinely surprised – we even share a few laughs along the way!”
Barry Melville, General Manager of 2RPH added:
“We are certainly thrilled to bring Passing Thought to our listeners. Each episode will delve into important topics with sensitivity, profound respect and poignant insight. Our hope is that Passing Thoughts will promote personal reflection and help us all to find some comfort through discussing the shared experience of living well and facing death.”
Each episode of Passing Thoughts concludes with a Before We Go segment, a lighter counterpoint that explores the quirkier and unexpectedly joyful aspects of life, even as we contemplate its end.
Generously funded by the Wicking Trust, Passing Thoughts is available as a podcast and on 2RPH every Thursday at 3:30pm.
