It’s already been a big 2025 for Super Radio Network station 2TM in Tamworth, celebrating 90 years, the 53rd Tamworth Country Music Festival and a new General Manager in Steve Nicholas. Now a new era has begun, with the station beginning its transition to FM, and a new name TMFM 95.5. The frequency was switched on on Monday May 19 with the official launch June 16, where 1287AM will be heard for the last time.
Steve Nicholas told Radioinfo that the new FM frequency sounds incredible.
“Through state of the art transmitters, and highly tuned OPTIMODs, the clarity gives us a better reach with higher quality. The station retains its heritage as Tamworth’s Own, Sharnae Birkett for breakfast, Chris Smith on mornings, then Afternoons with Dan Saunders plus interviews, sports, features and Sharnae’s country music show on the weekend, we’re still the one for Australia’s country music capital Tamworth.”

I suppose things move slowly in the Sticks. Congratulations, it's obviously been far too long coming. I remember my favourite radio station as a kid converting to the FM band. That happened on the 1st of January 1990. 104.7 KAFM they became.
