3MMM’s 2003 lineup

Melbourne’s Triple M has today announced its line up for 2003.

Breakfast will be hosted by The Cage team – Tim Smith, Brigitte Duclos, Matt Parkinson, Matt Quartermaine and regular guests comedians including Trevor Marmalade, Peter Rowsthorn and the Scared Weird Little Guys. The breakfast team returns January 13.

James ‘Turbo’ Anderson will host mornings. Triple M’s regular midnight to dawn announcer for the past 18 months is joining the daytime line up. At the age of 21, Anderson is “one of the youngest announcers in the country to be given a prime time shift in a major metropolitan market.”

Andrew ‘The Mullet’ Very makes his return to Melbourne’s airwaves in Afternoons, after taking six months out to backpack his way around Europe. Very has big shoes to fill as he replaces Lee Simon in this shift.

To “appropriately reflect Triple M’s absolute commitment to being the Number 1 AFL broadcaster in 2003 and beyond,” Lee Simon will relinquish his on-air responsibilities to devote his time fully to that of Executive Producer of Triple M Football. Simon previously split the responsibilities of this role with those of on-air announcing (and has consequently worked unsustainable hours during the AFL season!).

“The unique skills that Lee brings to the role in a full time capacity will ensure that Triple M Football continues its history of leading innovations and unique entertainment in AFL broadcasting,” according to Triple M General Manager, Elysa Craddock.

Craddock says: “Lee’s progression away from his on-air role will allow Triple M Football to be enhanced by the passion and focus that he brings to every facet of his work. Triple M has another four years of a guaranteed commitment to broadcast AFL and this move demonstrates the seriousness of our commitment. We are very excited about the prospects for the 2003 Season and beyond”.

Further announcements regarding Triple M Football are expected nearer to the commencement of the Home & Away season.

Jacqui Kassulke returns to Drive in 2003 and Phil O’Neill will host nights. O’Neill is returning to the Austereo Triple M Network “to host an innovative night time show. The show will give many younger Australians the chance to chat about social, topical and international issues affecting them.” While music will still play a strong role in the program, “the essence of the show will be a social forum.”
