3ZZZ launch Stories of Community Resilience with a new Manager

3ZZZ has a new anthology podcast series, Stories of Community Resilience to showcase real stories of how multicultural communities are supporting each other throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

The series was developed by new Station Manager, Jon King who has extensive experience working with the Community Broadcasting Foundation, City of Sydney, Victorian Government, City Precinct, Blind Citizens Australia and other community media organisations.

Jon says, “3ZZZ is a key pillar of Melbourne’s, and Australia’s, vibrant community media industry. I am excited for this new opportunity to support media diversity, providing news and entertainment for our diverse communities in their own languages”

As part of this project 3ZZZ is recruiting, training and supporting young people, women, people with disability and LGBTIQ+ people from new and emerging communities. Participants will develop new skills in interviewing, storytelling and audio production to produce their own Stories of Community Resilience.

The hope is that this will build the capacity of communities to engage in constructive dialogue with the media as a means of addressing local challenges and create another pathway into media for culturally and linguistically diverse journalists and media makers.

President of 3ZZZ, George Salloum, says,Stories of Resilience starts a new chapter in 3ZZZ’s legacy, providing new opportunities for volunteers and communities to share stories highlighting community resilience and the benefits of multiculturalism in Victoria.”
